Yesterday on a train to Prague: By now, a “Dobry Vecer” sounds familiar. I was expecting a litte fear, to be honest, but in fact I felt somehow warmed by those words instead.

A few days ago I saw a girl in the tram while waiting for mine. She looked at me. I looked at her. I noticed her. I smiled at her. She smiled at me. The tram started to take off and I silently nodded goodbye. She replied. Nice. Good day.

The train is late, it’s dark, I’m bored. The only reason I’m not in a hate-the-world mood is the fantastic music on my mp3 player; actually, I’m time and time again impressed what very great songs I put on it. Yeah. Move. Dance like nobody’s watching.

I’m not going to tell you what I’m doing in my cabin, but I want to raconte you this: I’m sitting at the window. The train slows down a bit and we are passing through a station. I can see a building next to the rails – it’s yellow from paint or light, and there’s light in the windows of all three floors. The door in the middle of the ground floor is open and a man is standing in its light. He watches us pass by.
A beautiful picture, an impression which caught me in the perfect sound. Emphasized by a cheerful interlude in a song which I owe to somebody. I was touched, protected. In my head, he smiled.
And again I’m standing at a frontier.
