Ahoj
There have been several requests for publishing some Czech vocabulary here. Here you go :) This is more or less what I will have to tell about myself tomorrow at our little exam. Perhaps I’ll write a translation sometime… Perhaps not :p
Dobrý den. Jmenuji se Gesche. Jsem z Německa. Je mi dvacet dva.
Moje rodina je malá. Mam mladší sestru. Je jí osmnacet a jmenuje se Leefje. Moje sestra je ve škole z Německa. Moje matka je v domácnosti. Můj otec je učitel. Máme kočky.
Mám strašně moc ráda brambory. Mám ráda take kolače, sýry, ryba, kuřata, melouny a zmrzlinu. Némám vůbec rád pivo. Ráda piju čaje. Neráda brzy vstávam. Umím anglicky, francousky, německy a trochu česky. Chci studovat finštinu a latinu.
Ráda čtu knihy. Čtu všechno ale nejvaději mám poezii. Ráda se dívam na filmy a serfoju na internetu. Ráda také poslouchám hudbu. Poslouchám různon hudbu.
Wow, it took me a long time to write it… Preparing took me long because I had to look up nearly every second word (I’m soooo lazy) and typing took so long because of all these special characters. My favourite expression: serfovat na internetu – it really means what it sounds like :p

Stop saying you didn’t learn any Czech. You just need to take a leap of faith and start using it and not bother if it comes out all wrong. The “real class” (a.k.a. life in Prague) starts in a couple of weeks, anyway.

I take back everything I said. That language must be really hard to learn, and I’ll bow to you once you report that you ordered your first sandwich in it.
